Uprooting Hollywood’s Movie Release Schedule

Business2blog has a good post on how Morgan Freeman’s Revelation Studios is creating a company with the goal of distributing movies to both traditional theatres and online channels in parallel.
Now this has been discussed by many people and you will often read Mark Cuban ranting about it… and with good reason. He is owner of 2929 Studios (Enron - The Smartest Guys in the Room) and HDNet and he is actively pursing how to upend the movie release model to help consumers, and studios, benefit. I for one would love to see a democratized release model where we can view the movie how and when we want. Even if the cost of watching through Comcast/RCN/etc at home is as high as at the theatre, I still am afforded the option.
